I’ve seen that women on TV that does the dump cake commercials, she makes it look so easy. So I thought I’d try one of her recipes, made some changes and variations and baked in our Dutch Oven. Was excellent, perfect way to use up some of the frozen apples from mom and dad’s trees. And thank you dump cake lady-Cathy Mitchell!

Method:

Combine eggs and oil, blend apples, nuts and chips, add egg mixture. Blend well, Place into lightly greased 10” or 12” Dutch Oven. Bake either on the fire, with charcoal, or in oven at 350 degrees for about an hour. Remove, serve with honey, caramel, syrup, ice cream, or dust with powdered sugar.

Substitutions: Use yellow cake mix and/or fresh apples. Instead of oil use melted butter or margarine. Use White Chocolate Chips. Substitute Pecan or other nuts.

Cooking Options: Walnuts and chips are optional. Add 1 T vanilla for more flavor!

Notes: This is a variation of a dump cake, for more cobbler style place apples on bottom and top with batter.
