Venison (Axis) Tacos

Quick and Easy Venison Tacos Recipe (30 minutes or less)

This is one that Eddie and I threw together real quick. We are all busy and sometimes we just don’t have 2 hours to spend in the kitchen for a meal. From start to finish, we completed this one in less than 30 minutes but don’t let the short preparation time fool you, it is still loaded with flavor. And the best part? We did it all from one pan. (Cast Iron skillet)

“You Should Try It”

Greg Ray

Ingredients:

  • Tender cut of your choice (We used the flat irons of an Axis deer)

Vegetables : Use your favorite and don’t be afraid to get creative. We kept it simple..

  • Sliced onion
  • Sliced red bell pepper
  • Jalapeño

Spices: Again use what you like, this is just a guide line. Here is what we used…

  • Avocado Oil for cooking in (High smoke point which allows you to get your skillet good and hot)
  • Salt and pepper on vegetables
  • Montana Mex Jalapeño seasoning and Sweet Chili powder

Methods:

  • Lightly coat meat with oil and season with spices of choice
  • Add oil to pan or cast iron skillet, heat on medium high heat until pan is hot.
  • Add sliced vegetables until cooked thoroughly until the vegetables are charred a little
  • Push vegetables to the edges of the pan, leaving the center open, add more oil if needed
  • Place meat in center and cook until desired doneness (do not over cook, rare to medium rare)
  • Let rest for a couple of minutes before slicing
  • Serve immediately on corn or flour tortilla, add avocado if desired, squeeze of lime and favorite hot sauce
